Two Giants and the Unsung

This video is so awesome yet controversial. This’s pretty much how my thoughts went – a little schizo. “Wow that’s cool!” “Those drones. saw them in Jack Neo’s movie” “But it’s Ogilvy and Coca-cola” “Really grateful to these men who labour for us” “Marketing ploy” The ending thought? So it’s one giant trying to sell another […]

A Lover’s Concerto by Kelly Chan

http://youtu.be/R1mnDL7dheI

In keeping with the rain theme from yesterday, here’s a dreamy song to listen to on a rainy day. Very soothing. Love what Kelly did with the song with her pure and clear voice.

Stumbled across this song while on the way to work, and it haunted me until I could find it. Another thing I love about it is how Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell managed to turn Bach’s Minuet in G into a pop song. I love my classical music, but I’m all for crossover classical. Brings the beautiful “atas” music to the masses that’s why.

Lyrics:
How gentle is the rain,
that falls softly on the meadow.
Birds high up on the trees,
serenade the clouds
with their melodies.*

Repeat *

Oh!
See there beyond the hill,
the bright colors of the rainbow.
Some magic from above.
Made this day for us, just to fall in love.
You’ll hold me in your arms,
and say once again you’ll love me.
And that your love is true,
everything will be just as wonderful.

Now, I belong to you,
from this day until forever.
Just love me tenderly
and I’ll give to you
every part of me.

Oh!
Don’t ever make me cry,
through long lonely nights without us.
Be always true to me,
keep this day in your heart eternally.

You hold me in your arms,
and say once again you love me.
And that your love is true,
everything will be just as wonderful

Piano hunting

My piano is not bad. The keys are still working well, and the sound hasn’t gone the way of Julie Andrews after her throat operation. But at a higher grade, I need an instrument that is more sensitive. So I walked into this Japanese music school and started tinkering on the showroom pianos. The test […]

The quick start button

Real dinner conversation: “How did you manage to just jump on the treadmill and get going?” “Press ‘quick start’.” “But press quick start makes it go very fast right. Yours goes slowly.” Moment of stunned silence. “Umm no it makes it start sooner. Not faster.”
